How to write your bio

Your bio is in Settings under Profile. It sits under your name and is usually the only thing somebody reads before deciding whether to send anything.

What to put in it

Say what you make and who it is for. Two or three sentences.

The version that works is specific. "Musician" tells somebody nothing they cannot see from your photo. "I record Rajasthani folk songs with my father and put one up every Sunday" tells them what their money keeps going.

If you are collecting for something in particular, say so here as well as in a goal. People skim.

Formatting

You get bold, italic, links and lists. There is a toolbar above the box.

Links are worth using for the one thing you most want somebody to see: a YouTube channel, a shop, a specific recording. Your social links already sit under the bio, so do not repeat them here.

Length

There is a limit and the box tells you how much is left. Being near it is usually a sign the bio is doing too many jobs. The wall of messages, your goal and your amounts all say things about you too.

What not to put in it

Your UPI ID. It is already in the QR code and the pay button, and printing it in text invites somebody to screenshot your page with a different ID pasted over it.
